I have seen far too many “make money online” types of ebooks for affiliate marketing for a long time now. And these ebooks cost around five times more than physical books from bookstores! I’ve always been a cheapskate so I never bought any and frankly, from what I’ve heard, they aren’t any different than the affiliate marketing tips you see around blogs and web sites which are all for free. So, let me share what I’ve learned with affiliate marketing.

1. Finding the Right Affiliate Program

It might sound funny at first for this to be considered the factor of your success in affiliate marketing. But in truth, finding the right affiliate program is the hardest part of all. You need to research on the reliability of the program you’re considering. Do they *really* pay? And if so, how much? Is it possible to actually make a decent income from them if you do the right thing? Doing your homework can save you a lot of heartaches later. However, not because a program worked for others means it would work for you too. Never discount the possibility of FAILING the first time you try to earn from affiliate marketing.

2. Decide on what to use For a Landing Page

Since you’re going to be promoting products, it’s a given you have to create a landing page. If you want it to be completely free for your first try, you can use Wordpress.com or Blogger to do the trick. As for what would be IN your landing page, you can write your own sales copy if you know how to. If not, find a sales copy for the product(s) you’re selling that affiliates are allowed to use.

3. Find the Right Marketing Medium for You

You have to find the right marketing medium and technique that works for you. That could be Craigslist of Gumtree, posting comments on blogs, running your own blogs, etc. It all depends on your target audience so diversify and be adventurous.
